Where does our food come from?

Big roars to you!

We are now half way through our journey and we have visited so many countries. Now, Dino just loves, loves, loves eating food! He loves eating his 5 a’day!

Each country has been growing lots of different foods. Now we are in hotter countries, we are seeing many exotic fruits growing like pineapples, mangos, papaya and bananas.

Would you like to find out where your food comes from?

This week, when you go food shopping with your Dad or Mum could you investigate where all the food in the shop comes from?

Have a look at the fruit, veg, packets, tins and see if it tells you which country it was grown in. Or go into your food cupboard at home and have a look at where your food has come from.

You could print out this map of the world and write down where each thing is grown.

print a map of Europe by clicking here

print a map of Asia by clicking here

print a map of Africa by clicking here

print a map of South America by clicking here

Perhaps you could colour the map in. If bananas are grown you could colour the country yellow. If oranges are grown you could colour the country orange.

Can you find out where these items are from:

Rice,
Tomatoes,
Pineapples,
Tea
Coffee
Oranges
Apples
Bananas
Strawberries
Sugar
Coconut
Flowers
Avocado
Papaya
Sweet potato
Passion fruit
Nuts

Send us a photo of your completed map so we can put it on our website
Dinoandlion@gmail.com

Next week, we will tell you about the food we have seen growing!

Have fun with your investigation
